BYO 2014-15
In support of increased integration of ICTs in teaching and learning, GAA has continued to fine-tune our resources and infrastructure to support the current educational trends and development. Beginning in September 2014, all secondary students will be expected to bring their personal laptop to support their learning at school. As outlined in the letter to parents, considerable effort has been taken to do all that we can to support the inclusion of a BYO program at GAA that builds on the findings of incredibly successful models of other highly reputable schools in our global education environment.
Using personal laptops has many benefits, not the least of which is that the student develops a high competence, confidence and familiarity with the machine and applications they use most often.
Outlined on this site is the information:
What sort of device should I provide for my child?
What apps should the laptop have installed?
How does my child connect to the network?
I have other questions!
Please remember that all GAA students have a GAA Google Apps account that provides them with access to Google Drive, Google Docs, Gmail and a range of associated applications - these are provided to students as needed in an age appropriate and educationally sound context.
